Richard has over 15 years’ of economic consulting experience primarily in the electricity, gas and water sectors, with project involvement in around 50 countries.
Richard joined farrierswier in 2023, after more than a decade at a leading economic consulting firm based in the United Kingdom. Prior to that he consulted to key energy sector stakeholders in New Zealand and Australia.
His primary specialty is economic regulation and price reviews. He also has diverse experience supporting the energy transition more generally, including working on investment plans, sector reform studies, renewable energy frameworks, investment due diligence, market design, and strategic energy policy.
Richard is an economic and financial consultant in the electricity, gas, and water sectors. He helps infrastructure businesses, policy makers, and regulators make strategic decisions that are informed by strong analytics.
Richard has worked closely with electricity utilities, including being part of a large Australian network business’s regulatory team, and with regulators, for example leading a price review and redrafting sector regulations for the Malaysian energy regulator. He has managed large teams across multi-year assignments, while also deliberately seeking opportunities that draw on his strong quantitative skills, which include financial and economic analysis, optimisation modelling, and econometrics.
Richard’s diverse consulting background makes him adept at helping clients think strategically across a range of infrastructure challenges, with that help grounded in strong analytics.
