Claire has over 15 years’ experience as an economic and policy adviser to energy market regulators both in Australia and Great Britain. She has an exceptional record of developing and delivering high quality strategic, economic and policy analysis and advice. Claire’s advice is informed by her years of experience and insights from inside the energy policy and regulatory space.

Claire joined farrierswier as a Senior Consultant in August 2021 and in that time has advised a range of government and industry clients on key regulatory and policy issues across the energy sector.

Prior to farrierswier, Claire held a range of specialist and advisory positions at the Australian Energy Market Commission (AEMC) since 2010, leading and advising on key reforms across many parts of the electricity and gas sectors. Her most recent role was as acting Executive General Manager of the Economic Analysis team. In this role, Claire led a team of economists, quantitative analysts and data scientists delivering expert economic advice, modelling and data analysis to the Commissioners, governments and the Energy Security Board.

Claire is an innovative thinker and structured problem solver, with a proven ability to untangle and solve complex market and regulatory problems within the transitioning energy sector.

Prior to the AEMC, Claire was a senior economist at Ofgem in Great Britain from 2005 to 2010, where she provided economic advice on a range of reforms across the GB gas and electricity markets. Claire has a strong academic foundation in economics. She is extremely well placed to identify the key economic questions that need to be asked and answered so that clients can be confident their decision making is informed by robust economic principles and analysis.

She is also a specialist in structured communication, with extensive experience delivering high stakes, high quality internal and external communication.
